So you are stuck at home practicing social distancing and your kids are out of school. The days can seem long. You may even be counting the hours or minutes until bedtime! Here are some fun activities to try when you are in need of some good ideas!
- Set up a treasure hunt for your kids at home. Hide items throughout your home or backyard for your kids to find.
- Build a fort that you can read books inside of.
- Have your kids color or draw pictures to send to other friends by mail or to seniors at nursing home facilities.
- Check out @cosmickidsyoga to keep your kids active and moving.
- Watch virtual museum tours or visit a zoo online or check out a national park without ever having to leave the house.
- Bake! Try out some new recipes and let your kids help measure, pour, etc. Then you will have a delicious treat to eat as well.
- Listen to music and have a dance party!
- Make sensory buckets or bins. Fill it with fun stuff and hand your kid a shovel and let them go to town!
- FaceTime with family members and friends.
- Go on a hike or a bike ride.
- Bust out the old board games or play cards. Nothing like some good family competition!
- Do a science experiment at home.
- The best paint in the world...water! Give your kids a bucket of water and a paintbrush and let them go to town outside painting anything and everything!
- Set up a homemade obstacle course.
- Never underestimate how long a blown up balloon can entertain a toddler.
- Let your kids have fun making a mess with shaving cream.
- Make a collage.
- Listen to audio books.
Enjoy this time with your children! Be present, as more than anything, they just want your attention.
