Becky Purinton, RN, MS, CPNP

Becky completed her master’s in nursing and training as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at ASU in 1996. She holds a national Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Her work experience includes nursing care of new mothers and newborn babies, as well as working for 6 years at Phoenix Children's Hospital caring for hospitalized children. She has taught the newborn care class and the Mom and Baby discharge class at Good Samaritan Hospital. Becky has been with North Scottsdale Pediatrics since 1998 and works closely with the physicians.

Becky is also a Certified Asthma Educator, AE-C.  This is a national certification demonstrating her ability and desire to provide excellent education and counseling to children with asthma and their families.  Becky explains in easy to understand terms what changes occur in the lungs during asthma and how the asthma medications work.  This knowledge can decrease anxiety as well as decrease the impact childhood asthma has on a child and their family.  Becky will individualize an Asthma Action Plan to help make sure parents know what to look for and to help ensure medications are used properly.  Knowing how and when to correctly use asthma medications will provide the best control of asthma symptoms with minimal medications being used.  Becky may initiate Pulmonary Function testing, which is done in our office, to help in diagnosing the type and severity of asthma a child has.  If you or your child are wanting to understand asthma and asthma medications better, make an "Asthma Education" visit with Becky.
